Stockholm as Leading Region of Europe

The Baltic Environmental Information Dissemination System (BEIDS) is delighted to be able to congratulate the City and Region of Stockholm for the highest marks achieved during a ranking performed by the German Research Institute Empirica-Delasasse on behalf of the business journal "Wirtschaftswoche". Of the 214 regions in the EU, Norway and Switzerland, Stockholm has the highest growth potential. Regions were assessed according to 204 criteria concerning business potential and dynamics, market potential, hi-tech potential, innovation and quality of life. Stockholm received the highest possible score, followed by Utrecht (Netherlands), Upper-Bavaria (Germany), Zürich (Switzerland) and Luxemburg as the top five. This is a good example to be followed by other Baltic regions and BEIDS will monitor such developments as they relate to sustainable development, in the coming year.
