Climate Change in the Baltic: specialist event in Gdansk

Focussing on the Baltic Sea Region (BSR), the project "Developing Policies & Adaptation Strategies to Climate Change in the Baltic Sea Region" (ASTRA) assesses regional impacts of the ongoing global change in climate and develops adequate strategies and policies for climate change adaptation. The project is co-financed by the Interreg III B programme of the European Union, with a project budget of 2,2 Mio Euro. The time frame of the ASTRA project is from June 2005 to December 2007.

As part of the project, the 2nd ASTRA conference, titled "CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION AND FLOOD RISKS IN COASTAL AREAS" will be held on the 26th-28th October 2006 in the Polish Geological Institute, Marine Geology Branch venue: Koscierska 5 Str., Gdansk Oliwa, Poland. The aim of the conference is to raise awareness on climate change in the Baltic Sea Region and to present climate change research and discuss possible climate impacts in the studied areas.
