NewsBEIDS Five YearsThe Baltic Environmental Information Dissemination System (BEIDS) has now entered its fifth year. Since its origin as an Interreg-Project back to 1999, BEIDS has evolved to become an important regional tool for environmental information in the Baltic. From its office in Hamburg and by means of an extensive network which includes over 8.000 people and institutions across the region, BEIDS has become a synonym of Baltic integration. As part of the “BEIDS Five Years” celebrations, a set of activities will be directly organised or supported by BEIDS in the region over the course of the year 2004. This is already a special year in the sense that four of BEIDS participant countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland) will become EU members. In this context, users and members of the BEIDS network will receive timely details on the planned activities, which will be held in the region. Some of them are:
